Thank You to My Patrons!

Last week I wrote about how you could support independent motorcycle publications and support this site for $1 via Patreon. Motorcyclists pull over to help other riders out, not because we expect to get anything back, but because we know other riders would do the same thing for us.

Beat expectations

For 9+ years I’ve been running YouMotorcycle mostly as a solo project. In the 650 articles are the stories of dozens of motorcyclists and/or their businesses. I never expected to get anything back for it. But last week you guys gave back to the site, and that was the coolest feeling ever. Nine of you (now called my Patrons) made donations of $1-$5, and that was so freakin’ awesome of you.

Gave me the feels

You guys totally exceeded my expectations, but even more importantly, you gave me all of the feels. You dismissed “Why pay for the cow when you can the milk for free” thinking and you decided to take two minutes out of your day to donate even just a dollar. And that made my whole week. THANK YOU.

We’re moving

The money raised hit my first goal which allows us to move the site to a better and faster server! I’ve already selected the new host and will keep you all in the loop of the process of migrating the site over! The claim is that the new site speed (once moved) could be up to five times faster. But I’ve been lied to by motorcycle manufacturer’s numbers enough times to take that with a grain of salt. Still, I’m optimistic!

No more pop-ups and 75% fewer ads for patrons

I emailed each of my Patrons and asked what kind of articles you’d like to see on the site, and how to make it better. You guys expressed a want for less stuff. I can do that! Next week I’ll be rolling out nearly ad-free access to the site for my Patrons!

This wasn’t originally meant to be a Patron-perk, but it should only take me a couple hours to sort out, and I want to show you guys a gesture of my appreciation. Stay tuned.

About Adrian from YouMotorcycle

I started riding motorcycles in 2007, founded YouMotorcycle in 2009, and was working in the motorcycle industry by 2011. I've worked for some of the biggest companies in motorcycling, before going full-time self-employed in the motorcycle business in 2019. I love sharing his knowledge and passion of motorcycling with other riders to help you as best I can.

  1. ” Because you’re worth it!” (to pinch L’Oreal’s slogan)!!

  2. Thanks brother, gotta live up to it now! But good things are coming, and one of them is from your side of the pond. Stay tuned…
