Are you wondering how to securely mount a cell phone on your Vespa scooter? Look no further! In this concise guide, we’ll show you an easy and affordable solution to keep your phone within reach while riding.
All it takes to mount your cell phone on your Vespa is one stem mount, one clamp, and one phone mount. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Choose the Right Mount
When it comes to mounting your cell phone on a Vespa, a RAM mount is an excellent choice. This highly regarded brand offers a range of options and accessories to provide a secure and customized fit for your scooter.
The three options I typically recommend are:
RAM MOUNT – This clamps to the mirror stem of your Vespa scooter. Get the smallest size.
RAM DOUBLE SOCKET ARM – This clamp will connect the RAM Mount to the phone clamp. There are cheaper options, but your phone is probably worth spending a couple dollars more on.
PHONE CLAMP – This part actually holds your phone securely. There are several different types, with different features, but as long as they use a 1″ ball you’ll be okay.
Now that you’ve bought everything you’ll need for mounting a phone to your Vespa, follow the steps to put everything together:
Step 2: Mount Installation
- Begin by positioning the RAM MOUNT around your Vespa’s mirror stem. I like to use the left mirror stem in case I need to touch my screen without taking my right hand off of the throttle of my Vespa GTS. I recommend mounting the phone further down the mirror stem for less vibration and better aesthetics.
- Note that the RAM Mount comes with different sized spacers so you can choose whichever one fits best around your mirror stem.
- Use the (included) allen key to tighten the two nuts and the two bolts to secure the mount firmly in place.
Step 3: Attaching the Clamp
- Loosen the DOUBLE SOCKET ARM clamp to prepare it for attachment.
- Align the socket of the clamp with the corresponding RAM mount ball.
- Use the lever on the side to secure the double socket arm clamp so it does not fall off the RAM mount ball.
Step 4: Attaching the Phone Clamp
- Loosen the double socket arm clamp and slide the ball end of the phone clamp in place.
- Tighten down the double socket arm clamp to hold everything solidly in place.
- Put your phone in the clamp and make sure it is locked in securely either with elastic bands, or locking mechanism, depending on the phone clamp you chose.
Step 5: Fine-Tuning the Setup
- Take your Vespa out for a test ride around the block and see if the angles are comfortable and helpful.
- Return home, or anywhere safely out of traffic, to make any adjustments necessary.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully mounted your cell phone on your Vespa scooter. This simple setup, which I’ve been personally using on scooters for over a decade, is easy, reliable, and affordable.
Remember, you can easily adjust the orientation of the mount by loosening and tightening it according to your needs.
